Our History

The Metafina hardware wallet line was started by Douglas Bakkum and Jonas Schnelli in 2015 with the original Metafina, previously known as the Digital Metafina. It was among the first hardware wallets to enter the market.

In 2019, we introduced the Metafina. This hardware wallet combines cutting-edge security with a strong focus on usability, offering a compelling product for the next generation of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency users.

We continue to deliver new features and enhancements to our users through updates to the MetafinaApp and Metafina firmware.

Technology

Our secure dual-chip architecture reflects our commitment as a German open-source security company. It allows for the use of a secure chip to physically harden the device, combined with fully open-source firmware. With its compact design and no visible screen when powered off, the Metafina is highly discreet. Made in Germany, it embodies our dedication to quality and privacy.
